Nieuwe optie voor verzameling van productinspectiedata van voedingsmiddelen

Mettler-Toledo Safeline heeft een nieuwe optie voor effectieve dataverzameling geïntroduceerd, waardoor USB-sticks of flashdrives kunnen worden gebruikt om informatie over productinspectieprocessen te verzamelen en op te slaan.

Deze data kan worden gebruikt om te bewijzen dat de benodigde due diligence werd toegepast tijdens de kwaliteitsborgingprocessen als er verontreinigingen in een product zijn aangetroffen of als een terugroepactie moet worden gestart. Zodoende kunnen producenten van voedingsmiddelen voldoen aan de wet- en regelgeving inzake voedselveiligheid, aan normen zoals het Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) en aan de richtlijnen van retailers. De nieuwe USB-dataverzamelingstool is verkrijgbaar voor alle metaaldetectie-, X-ray en controleweegsystemen van Mettler-Toledo.

 Wereldwijde initiatieven voor voedselveiligheid, zoals de wereldwijde norm van het British Retail Consortium (BRC), International Featured Standards (IFS), Safe Quality Food (SQF)-programma en certificering 22000 (FSSC 22000) voor voedselveiligheidssystemen en de toonaangevende retailers van voedingsmiddelen eisen dat alle informatie over de productie- en verpakkingsprocessen wordt verzameld en opgeslagen. Daarnaast moeten er records bijgehouden worden volgens een programma gebaseerd op Hazards and Critical Control Points Analysis (HACCP). De vereiste informatie omvat veelal Performance Verification Reports (PVR) die bewijzen dat productinspectiesystemen juist en periodiek getest zijn, ploegendienstrapporten met de productie-aantallen, partij-informatie, het aantal uitgeworpen producten en rapporten met alle machine-instellingen tijdens het productieproces.

In het verleden werden deze rapporten met productinspectie- en opslaginformatie handmatig op papier gezet. Mettler-Toledo heeft het verzamelingsproces veel eenvoudiger,veiliger en minder foutgevoelig gemaakt, door een USB-poort in de productinspectiemachine in te bouwen. Papieren audit processen zijn hierdoor niet langer nodig. De functie maakt het mogelijk om alle gegevens die door de metaaldetector, de X-ray of controleweegmachine zijn opgeslagen, op een memorystick te laden en op computers of andere massa-opslagtoestellen op te slaan voor gebruik in de toekomst.

‘Bij een terugroepactie moeten producenten van voedingsmiddelen bij de wet bewijzen dat ze alle due diligence hebben toegepast om de overtreding waarvan men wordt beschuldigd te  voorkomen.Het ondersteunende bewijsmateriaal moet alle relevante records en gegevens over de productinspectie omvatten,, inclusief controle-informatie over apparatuurtests en productielijnprocessen. De USB-dataverzamelingsoptie stelt producenten in staat eenvoudiger en betrouwbaarder ter bewijzen dat alle benodigde stappen en redelijke voorzorgsmaatregelen waren getroffen om de klanten tegen risico's te beschermen. En dit is goed voor het merkimago’, zegt Jonathan Richards, Marketing Manager, Mettler-Toledo Safeline.

De metaaldetectiesystemen van Mettler-Toledo verzamelen gegevens zoals Performance Verification Reports (PVR) om te bewijzen dat de apparatuur op de juiste wijze en periodiek is getest, compleet met ploegendienstrapporten met productie-aantallen, partij-informatie en informatie over het aantal uitgeworpen producten.

De USB-optie is een aanvulling op andere dataverzamelingsvoorzieningen van Mettler-Toledo, zoals handheld draagbare printers, op Ethernet-gebaseerde connectiviteitssystemen en aansluiting op het Freeweigh.net Statistical Quality Control (SQC)-pakket van de onderneming. De producenten kunnen ook ProdX gebruiken, het specifieke en innovatieve softwarepakket van Mettler-Toledo voor de verzameling van gegevens van productinspectiesystemen

New product inspection data collection option to enhance compliance for food manufacturers

Mettler-Toledo Safeline has launched a new, effective data collection option which enables Universal Serial Bus (USB) data sticks or flash drives to be used to gather and store information on product inspection processes. This data can be used to prove that due diligence has been exercised in quality control processes in the event of a contamination issue or product recall, helping food manufacturers meet food safety legislation and standards such as the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and also food retailer  guidelines. The new USB data collection tool is available across the full range of Mettler-Toledo’s metal detection, x-ray and checkweigher systems.

Global food safety initiatives such as the British Retail Consortium Global Standard (BRC), International Featured Standards (IFS), Safe Quality Food Program (SQF) and Food Safety System Certification 22000 (FSSC 22000) as well as leading food retailers demand that information about the production and packaging processes be gathered and documented.  Additionally, records must be kept in line with a Hazards and Critical Control Points Analysis (HACCP) based programme. Required data typically includes Performance Verification Reports (PVR) to prove that product inspection systems have been correctly and periodically tested, shift reports detailing production throughput numbers, batch information, rejected pack counts and reports detailing machine settings during production processes.

Previous methods of product inspection data collection and storage include manual records and paper-based reports.  Mettler-Toledo has made the collection process simpler, safer and less prone to error by providing a USB socket built into the product inspection system, also avoiding paper-based audit trails. This feature enables the extensive data recorded by the metal detector, x-ray or checkweighing machine to be easily loaded onto a memory stick and stored on computers or other mass storage devices for future reference.

“In the event of a product recall, food manufacturers are legally obligated to prove that they exercised due diligence to have avoided committing the offence of which they are accused. The supporting evidence should include all relevant records and data pertaining to product inspection, including validation information on equipment tests and production line processes. The USB data collection option will enable manufacturers to more easily and reliably show that all necessary measures and reasonable precautions were taken to protect customers from any risks and thus, will help to protect their brand reputation”, said Jonathan Richards, Marketing Manager, Mettler-Toledo Safeline.

The USB option compliments other data collection facilities available from Mettler-Toledo, including hand-held portable printers, Ethernet-based connectivity systems and connection to the company’s Freeweigh.net statistical quality control (SQC) package. Manufacturers are also able to utilise ProdX, Mettler-Toledo’s dedicated and innovative software package that focuses on the collection of data from product inspection systems.
