Bierbrouwer Grolsch introduceert een nieuw krat voor haar pilsmerk Kornuit. Het krat lijkt op het eerste oog niet echt bijzonder, maar vanuit duurzaamheid is deze uniek, omdat het volledig is geproduceerd van plastic consumentenafval.
Grolsch brengt hiermee naar eigen zeggen als eerste ter wereld een krat op de markt vervaardigd van 100% gerecycled consumenten plastic. Het plastic consumentenafval wordt ingezameld, gesorteerd, gescheiden en vermalen. De lichte kunststoffen zoals polypropeen en polyetheen worden gedroogd, verzameld en opnieuw verwerkt tot kunststof. Het kunststof dat hieruit ontstaat, is ongekend sterk. En juist dit kunststof is gebruikt voor het Kornuit krat. Het krat voldoet aan alle benodigde specificaties en is door Grolsch gerealiseerd in samenwerking met DS Smith Plastics, de leverancier van het krat.

Het Kornuit krat is genomineerd voor de Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2018, in de categorie Best Recycled Plastic Packaging Product. Op 25 april worden de winnaars van deze awards bekendgemaakt. Dutch beer brewer Grolsch introduces a new crate for her beer brand Kornuit. At first sight, the crate does not look really special, but from a sustainability point of view it is really unique, because it is fully produced by plastic consumer waste.
According to Grolsch, they put the world’s first crate made from 100% recycled consumer plastic into the market. Plastic consumer waste is collected, sorted, separated and ground. The light plastics such as polypropylene and polyethylene, are dried, collected and reprocessed to plastic. The plastic resulting from this, is unprecedentedly strong. And precisely this plastic has been used for the Kornuit crate. The crate meets all the required specifications and is realized by Grolsch in cooperation with DS Smith Plastics, the supplier of the crate.
